Advanced Workshop on MicroLabBox II for the Research Team
Recently, the Anillo Proyect ATE230035 successfully held a specialised workshop focused on the MicroLabBox II platform. This comprehensive event was aimed at students and researchers with prior experience with dSPACE, Simulink, or digital implementation processes.
As part of this specialised training, the workshop provided an in-depth look at the internal architecture of the MicroLabBox II equipped with the Advanced Feature Package. Participants implemented algorithms on the FPGA using advanced tools such as HDL Coder and Vitis HLS. In addition, the sessions successfully addressed the integration of HDL/HLS blocks with real-time models using dSPACE.
To ensure a deep understanding of the platform, the study also focused on critical technical aspects, including system latency, maximum frequency limits, critical paths, and optimal utilisation of FPGA resources. In addition, the attendees worked extensively on task distribution strategies between the CPU and the FPGA, as well as on distributed processing leveraging the multiple cores of the MicroLabBox II processor.
Finally, as part of the practical activities, the team successfully implemented and verified various digital filters and controllers by directly using the equipment’s physical inputs and outputs. This workshop significantly strengthens the research team’s technical capabilities, fostering advanced knowledge in control systems and digital implementation to address upcoming project challenges.
